In my previous posts (here and here) I experimented with combining all the instagram filters on one of my monkey moments. For the finale, here is an animated GIF – cycling through the filters as they converge to become more and more abstract.
The image got a little grainy in the GIF conversion process (which I think adds to the effect). However, you can download a higher resolution, non-grainy GIF here.
In my previous post I experimented with combining all the instagram filters on one of my monkey moments. I thought it would be cool to combine the results in a collage. It looks a bit like a broken tv – flickering luminous colours and grainy noise.
the original –
Have you ever wondered what a photo might look like if you applied all the filters in Instragram to it, one on top of another (excluding black and whites)? I took one of my monkey moments and found out…

It produces a wide rage of effect. Veering from the subtle, to pop art, to abstract! Because all the effects were applied to the same photo it is easy to take it one step further- open two (or more) of the images in Photoshop or GIMP and combine them together using blending modes and the opacity slider. For the image below I opened the original photo and the +sutro edit on different layers in GIMP, set the blend mode to darken and dropped the opacity to around 70%. Endless fun!

A teacher at one of the schools I teach at invited me to see a Beatles tribute band at cafe in my town. They were amazing! As far as I could tell the one on the right was Paul and the left, John.

My hometown in Japan, is a fishing town. At night, boats bob and glint on the horizon – catching nocturnal octopi. This one however, is a past it’s best - battered and bashed, leathered and weathered.
